S/SW blog philosophy -

I credit favorite writers and public opinion makers.

A lifelong Democrat, my comments on Congress, the judiciary and the presidency are regular features.

My observations and commentary are on people and events in politics that affect the USA or the rest of the world, and stand for the interests of peace, security and justice.

Cheney Revisited

"Shivver me timbers!" Free Speech Challenged The Washington Note's Steve Clemons posted an astonishing story. Headlined, "CHALLENGE CHENEY Wherever He Goes: The Handcuffs Are Worth It" 10/04/06, the post details a chilling incident that should be more widely known. To quote (regarding Cheney),
. . . He should be challenged every time and every where he speaks. He should get no easy passes, and Americans should stop giving him laudatory back-drops and applause when he deigns to walk in public view -- like he did recently in Denver.
According to this report, a man walking his young son walked over to Cheney who was glad-handing and said, "I think your policies in Iraq are reprehensible." He walked on. Ten minutes later, he was handcuffed and arrested under orders from the Secret Service.
Read the rest of the post for more on this story. And, as you can imagine, Steve's post garnered a number of comments.
South by Southwest posts with mentions of Cheney total 33 to date. The original "Spotlight on Cheney" has my favorite picture of the Veep. A warning about the following reference list - it is probably a whole lot more than you want to know about the man.

unfortunately, he and rummy are partners. the unholy trinity is cheney, rummy and wolfowitz- that is why rummy won't resign. they are really running things- and bush is a terrible figurehead. they don't really need him anymore but i think that they keep him as a mascot.
